It has been sweltering outside lately, and this outfit is the result of me trying to wear as little as possible while still being protected from the sun. This flowy & light-colored top was perfect for the weather. And luckily, these pants are super thin, so I stayed cool even though my legs were covered.

Lunch in the Tropics

Sometimes I feel like dressing as I'm on a tropical island vacation...even if I'm just grabbing lunch at Bruxie for the first time. (By the way, I had the Roasted Turkey Club and it rocked.)

Rose Garden at Sunset

A couple weeks ago, Forever 21 was having 50% off sale merchandise! Often times, I find that F21's sale items are in far from perfect condition, but after a tiny bit of digging I found this skirt. I then purchased it for a whopping total of $4.47. It sort of made my day.

Stripes on Stripes

 

I scored these sunglasses at Forever 21 the other day, and I am slightly obsessed. I mentioned in a previous post that I own an unhealthy amount of button downs. Well, I also own an unhealthy amount of sunglasses. I simply can't help myself, especially when they retail for the exorbitant price of $5.80 at F21.

Floating Away

In January, 18 members of my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas to celebrate my grandfather's 90th birthday. I brought this dress on the cruise, and every time I wear it I think of how perfectly it blended into the ocean and the clouds.

Almost Brandy

This sweater (thing) reminds me of Brandy Melville. I have not (yet) made a purchase from Brandy, simply because it's not for me. But I do have several friends who wear Brandy clothes on a daily basis and look wonderful doing so (shoutout to Ashley, Brandy fashionista). 

Anyway, I found this sweater (thing) in my mom's closet about a year ago and decided to adopt it. I didn't get a photo of the back, as I'm still getting used to this whole photographing-what-I-am-wearing thing, but it has a hood and a lovely bow. It's a perfect length, and I think it looks best with dresses like this one.

This look also features two of my favorite things at the moment--layering short necklaces and wearing long socks with boots. Neither of these quote unquote trends are by any means new, but nonetheless I'm a fan.

Jewel Tones and Tartan

Today I learned something new. All tartan is plaid, but not all plaid is tartan! The jacket I'm wearing in this outfit is technically only plaid--tartan makes perfect squares, according to this eHow article. So I used creative freedom when choosing to keep the title "Jewel Tones and Tartan," because alliteration rocks. Okay? Okay.

Shapes & Lines, Black & White

The leaf pin I'm wearing was gifted to me by my friend Biyonka. She went through a major vintage pin phase, and each time new ones arrived she sent me pictures. When she asked me to choose a favorite, I always picked this one. A few months later she surprised me with the pin as a gift! It's perfect on collared shirts, of which I wear an unhealthy amount.

#Nature

Hello! Welcome to Clothesincolor. I have wanted to create a fashion blog for an eternity, and a few days ago I finally decided that now's the time. I'm not quite sure what exactly you'll find here over the next several weeks, but I hope you enjoy.
